The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ They ask thee (O Muhammad) of the spoils of war. Say: The spoils of war belong to Allah and the messenger, so keep your duty to Allah, and adjust the matter of your difference, and obey Allah and His messenger, if ye are (true) believers. 1 Those only are believers who, when God is mentioned, their hearts quake, and when His signs are recited to them, it increases them in faith, and in their Lord they put their trust, 2 The ones who establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend. 3 Such are the true believers. Their reward from their Lord will be high ranks, forgiveness, and a generous provision. 4 Just as thy Lord ordered thee out of thy house in truth, even though a party among the Believers disliked it, 5 Disputing with you regarding the truth after it had been made clear, as if they were being herded towards a visible death. 6 And when Allah promised you one of the two parties that it shall be yours and you loved that the one not armed should he yours and Allah desired to manifest the truth of what was true by His words and to cut off the root of the unbelievers. 7 and that He might verify the truth and prove untrue the untrue, though the sinners were averse to it. 8 When you (believers) begged for assistance from your Lord, He said, "I am helping you with a thousand angels, all in rows marching one after the other". 9 He gave you the good news only to reassure your hearts, for victory comes from God alone, and certainly God is all-mighty and all-wise. 10
