But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be losers. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
