The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
