The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
