The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of a clear Book, the Quran. 1 Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it. 4 no people can forestall their doom, nor can they delay it. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have! 8 Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before thee, among the factions of the ancients, 10 And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. 11 We place in the hearts of sinners (disbelief). 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
