And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
