We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
