The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
