The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created man. 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord would you then deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
