Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
