He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
