Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
