This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
