The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
