He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and holy, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grass, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
