The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
