And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. 29 Moses said: "Even if I were to bring a Clear Sign to you?" 30 [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
