And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein 16 When the two Receivers receive (him), seated on the right hand and on the left, 17 Not a word he uttereth but there is with him a watcher ready. 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!" 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And every human being will come forward with [his erstwhile] inner urges and [his] conscious mind, 21 (It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!" 22 And his Companion will say: "Here is (his Record) ready with me!" 23 "Cast each stubborn unbeliever into Hell," (they will be told), 24 Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty." 26 ۞ His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error." 27 (It was said): “Do not remonstrate in My presence. I had warned you. 28 The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves. 29
