Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
