No, by the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
