The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
