The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
