The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
