The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
