The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
