The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
