He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 Mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
