The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
