O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 So leave them in their intoxication till a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 And those who in the signs of their Lord do believe. 58 And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a record which clearly shows the truth and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are covered (blind) from understanding this (the Quran), and they have other (evil) deeds, besides, which they are doing. 63 Until when We lay hold of the luxuriant ones of them with the torment, and lo! then they are imploring! 64 “Do not implore this day; you will not be helped by Us.” 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil. 67 Is it then that they do not ponder over what is said, or is it that there has come to them that which did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 Had truth been subject to their whims the heavens and the earth and all those within them would have been depraved. In fact We had sent them their reminder, but they turned away from good advice. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 And lo! thou summonest them indeed unto a straight path. 73 But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
