And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no caring friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
