Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 which guides to the right path; so we have believed in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord, 2 our Lord is too exalted to have either a wife or son. 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 And verily we! we had imagined that humankind and jinn would never forge against Allah a lie. 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 and that “we tried to pry (the secrets of) the heaven, but we found it full of terrible guards and shooting meteors”; 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 And so we do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight: 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 And that if they should keep to the (right) way, We would certainly give them to drink of abundant water, 16 that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
