Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
