He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
