The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
