AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 They would carve secure houses out of the mountains. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 And what they earned did not avail them. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Your Lord is certainly the All-knowing Creator. 86 AND, INDEED, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the oft repeated [verses,] and [have, thus, laid open before thee] this sublime Qur'an: 87 Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers 88 And say: Surely I am the plain warner. 89 even as We had sent warning to those who had divided their religion into fragments; 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 about whatever they had been doing! 93 So shout that thou art commanded and turn thou away from the idolaters. 94 We suffice thee against the mockers, 95 Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know. 96 We know indeed thy breast is straitened by the things they say. 97 But glorify your Lord with His praise, and prostrate yourself: 98 And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death). 99
