The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then he approached and descended 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
