The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
