The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
