Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by this city -- 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 to an orphaned relative 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
