The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
