Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
