Al-Najm 3 of 3
Seest thou one who turns back, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 Thamud, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 and covered them with torment. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
