The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
