The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 And how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
