The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. 3 all the angels and all the inspiration [ever granted to man] ascend unto Him [daily,] in a day the length whereof is [like] fifty thousand years… 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 Verily! They see it (the torment) afar off, 6 But We see it (quite) near. 7 The Day that the sky will be like molten brass, 8 and the mountains become like wool, 9 No loyal friend will ask another loyal friend 10 although they shall be within sight of one another. The guilty one would fain ransom himself from the torment of that Day by offering his children, 11 and his spouse and his brother, 12 and his kinsfolk who had stood by him, 13 And all those that are in the earth, (wishing) then (that) this might deliver him. 14 No, in truth, it is a Furnace! 15 Taking away (burning completely) the head skin! 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 And masseth and then hoardeth. 18 ۞ VERILY, man is born with a restless disposition. 19 When they are afflicted, they complain, 20 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; 21 Not so are the prayerful. 22 who are constant in prayer; 23 and in whose possessions there is a due share, acknowledged [by them,] 24 For the petitioner and the deprived - 25 And those who testify to the Day of Requital. 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 And those who guard their private parts, 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, they are the transgressors. 31 And those who fulfil their trusts and covenants, 32 And those who are firm upon their testimonies. 33 and who take due care of their Prayer: 34 all these shall live honourably in the Gardens. 35
