The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
