The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness this land 1 this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 Upon them is a fire, in which they are imprisoned, closed and shut above them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
