And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 "Peace be upon Noah throughout all the worlds!" 79 This is how We reward the virtuous. 80 he was truly one of Our faithful servants. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 Recall what time he came unto his Lord with a heart whole. 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Is it a falsehood-god beside Allah that ye desire? 86 What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds? 87 He then shot a glance at the stars. 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 Then he turned upon them, striking them with his right hand, 93 Then they advanced toward him, hastening. 94 He answered: "Do you worship something that you [yourselves] have carved, 95 While Allah created you and that which you do?" 96 They said, 'Build him a building, and cast him into the furnace!' 97 And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased. 98 He said, 'I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance. 101 And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast." 102 And when they had both submitted, and his son had laid down prostrate upon his forehead, 103 We called unto him, 'Abraham, 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 For this was obviously a trial- 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty victim. 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 Peace be upon Ibrahim! 109 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 110 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 111 And [in time] We gave him the glad tiding of Isaac, [who, too, would be] a prophet, one of the righteous; 112 and blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly sinned against their souls. 113
