The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
