I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 And verily! This your religion (of Islamic Monotheism) is one religion, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me. 52 But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself. 53 So leave them in their intoxication till a time. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Those who tremble with fear of their Lord; 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 “Do not implore this day; you will not be helped by Us.” 65 My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging? 69 or you said that he is possessed by satan? In fact, he has brought you the truth, but most of you dislike it. 70 Had the truth followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and all that is in them would have been destroyed. We sent them the Quran but they ignored it. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ If We took compassion on them and removed the affliction they are in, they would only wander lost in confusion. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
